Welcome to Winter 2010
A record-breaking chilly start to Winter and for the spring steel industry; but in these difficult times, we here at Reddifast have plenty of positive news, hence a longer than usual newsletter. |
We have added two new suppliers to address the severe supply shortages across Europe.
A new slitting line has been commissioned to add to our capacity and range, we are announcing a new Wire supply contract service with long term commitments to customers, and we are now formally offering a personalised design and production Consultancy Advice Service including Procurement and Project Consultancy.
Our expansion as a new entrant into flexible car park barriers has been widely welcomed in the market and the hard work is now really proving very worthwhile.
To top this off, in the New Year we shall have a new, highly interactive website, which we hope will prove to be a valuable resource for our customers, with lots of useful downloads, advice, product and production ideas, plus industry links.
Read on, and then call me, or mail me. Your views would be especially appreciated at this difficult time for our industry.

Supply and Pricing
Steel supplies and prices across the whole of Europe have been a real roller-coaster ride over the last few months; Prices have often been the subject of weekly and in some cases virtually daily increases.
Europe’s hot steel rolling mills have being severely affected by the unnecessary stop start policy of the European blast furnace operators. A policy we have been challenging for some considerable time.
The narrow mill production of spring steel strip in particular, has varied widely, causing severe shortages, particularly on the thinner gauges, .508mmm and below.
At this point Reddifast set itself the task of adding new suppliers, as quickly technically and contractually as possible. Reddifast has procured the additional services of two high quality narrow strip mills, whose capacity, adding to our existing suppliers, has alleviated the increasingly frustrating supply shortages.
The resolution of the supply issues has only been achieved through a great deal of mutual support and co-operation between some of our key service centres, and ourselves.

New slitting line
 |
The planning, design and procurement of a new slitting line is underway which will increase our capacity both for existing valued customers, and for new customers.
The line will increase our capacity on gauge, width, and coil weights, and we anticipate the line will be in full production by early in the New Year.

QUADS for Reddifast
Once more Reddifast’s expertise and advice has proved invaluable in another fascinating project.

Mark Watson is a Quad racing champion, and sought Reddifast’s R & D help to produce a retaining clip for his Suzuki Quadracer 450R quadbike, to prevent the main drive shaft sliding out of gear when the bike was airborne!
The challenge was to design a clip which could cope with the large shaft diameter but also with the torque strength to hold the flexible shaft together under the enormous strains. |

The solution went some way to helping Mark win both the British and NETT Championships.
